Siegfred Uy Corral, 21 y/o Setter for the LPU Pirates

When did you start playing volleyball?
I started playing volleyball in 4th year highschool.

What inspired you to play volleyball?
My family is a sport oriented family and my father is a basketball player for the Philippine-Chinese Basketball team. Then so I decided to go around and play with different sports, soccer, chess, others and I fell in love with volleyball.

What is the most difficult part of being a setter?
Of course, if walang first ball and if hindi napalo ng maayos ng spiker, of course, may blame sakin. Pero pinakadifficult talaga sa mga part na yun is yung decision making on how we can get a point.

What is your favorite thing about being a setter?
Nakikita ko lahat. I see everyone even the opponent, parang I have extra observant skills.

Who is your volleyball idol?
My volleyball idol for men’s volleyball is Ish Polvorosa and for women’s volleyball is Jia Morado.

What is your best advice for new volleyball players?
No matter what, if may mag deprive sayo sa dream mo, just keep on pushing. If you love what you’re doing, for sure, mag-i-improve ka don.

What is the most challenging part of being a student athlete?
Of course, time management and yung professors who are inconsiderate pero that just shows how I professionaly I take the critisms of other people. So yun, time management and professionalism.

What is your favorite class?
Literature and English, anything related.

Where is your favorite place to relax?
Coffee shops. I like to study in coffee shops.

What is your favorite food?
Longganisa, any kind.
